Jared Johnson received second-place honors in the national Americanism essay contest.

Jared Johnson, an eighth-grader at St. Mary’s School, recently earned second-place honors in the national Americanism essay contest hosted by the Elks Lodge.
Johnson’s essay had earned third-place in the local essay contest, sponsored by the Canandaigua Elks Lodge. His essay, along with those written by fellow St. Mary’s students Jake Wiepert and Nina Tran, who earned first- and second-place, respectively, was entered into the national competition.
Johnson received a framed certificate and a $50 gift card.
